In 2014 Bessel van der Kolk published The Body Keeps the Score about the affects of trauma on the body. It was and is a great bridge between the psychological community and the medical community, and is honestly a great book. But in this episode of Trailercast, we go a step further. Today I explore the ways that the body not only holds trauma, but also triumph. The body holds it ALL. Our job, is to remember both. To drop into our body and find the places where power, beauty and triumph reside. To pay attention to where the truth is. Our body also remembers this. Our job is to hold the both/and. In this episode we take time to scan our bodies, noticing where resilience lives within us. And we discuss the ways that we can use that remembrance of what is good and triumphant within us as a tool whenever the stored trauma comes up. Your resilient self is alive and well. That is the self that what we want to reach for.
